Title: Fabulous Bird Guide
Review: This is the best book for not only Bird Watcher but for people who just see birds randomly and are curious as to what type of bird they are. This is an excellent resource and one of the best telling you when these birds will be in a specific area in the North America and what they feed on and where they go recommend this book highly it is well worth the money!

Title: A nice second reference
Review: I am a bird watcher–not a serious birder.Pros: I like the fact that each bird is given a full page. I don’t have to flip between the bird ID and the appropriate map of its range. The depiction of the bird as it relates to the size of the book is useful as a quick impression of the bird’s size. Flight pattern and type of nest it builds are useful. A bird’s relative scarcity is useful. I’m of the opinion that the simplest/commonest answer is usually the correct one.Cons: The use of a photograph rather than a painting of each bird is a negative for me. The Peterson series which uses paintings works better for me. The painting more clearly emphasizes the unique features of a given bird. I am willing to accept that the bird I see will not perfectly match the sample in the book. The inclusion of so many western birds in a book labeled “Eastern Region” is a bit of a negative but that is offset by having the range map on the same page. All in all, I find the guide to be a useful second reference for me.

Title: Beautiful illustrations, needs better organization
Review: I bought this book to identify birds in my garden. The organization of this book is really not helpful for this purpose. You already need to know what group your bird is in before identifying the species you’re looking at.The artwork is beautiful and the details are great. I was able to figure out we have a Carolina chickadee and not a black capped chickadee. Not really a book for beginners, but there is great information in it.

Review: This is a great book. Have the western region as well, although I don’t seem much difference between them. Al kinds of birds that are only in the west that show up here as well.I like the extensive behaviour section, great photos and nice organization. I use this book with others to give me a well rounded birding guide. Add www.allaboutbirds.org and I am well set.
