Isla Belthare lives an ordinary life in her small village of Lockhurt. Since losing both her mother and the man she loved two years ago, all she wants is stability and peace. But her world is forever changed when her family is attacked on a journey away from home and she must travel to the Aataran mountain range to find them.

Across the realm, four ancient beings who control the elements of nature are awakening.

After a civil war that tore the humans apart, the elementals entered a thousand year slumber. Now, they are being summoned to prevent a dark force that is greedy for power and threatening to overturn the balance of nature.

When Isla’s path crosses with one of these elementals, she finds her fate is more entangled with theirs than she had ever imagined. As she risks it all to follow the elementals on their journey to defeat the unknown foe, she discovers that not everything may be as it seems. Isla is torn between protecting her loved ones or following her heart down a dangerous path of power and magic, of truth and lies.

What will they sacrifice to stop the coming storm?

Long Live is the first book in the Elementals of Iona duology, an epic fantasy romance that follows the journey of a young woman overcoming loss and anxiety and four immortal beings learning how to forgive and love again after their dark past. This enemies-to-lovers series is full of morally grey characters, witty banter, unique elemental magic, romantic tension, and twists you won’t see coming. Long Live is perfect for lovers of epic quests and character-driven stories, especially fans of Carissa Broadbent, Elise Kova, and Sarah J Maas.

Title: Lovely fantasy romance with morally grey MCs and all the swoon and banter!
Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫Have you been looking for a fantasy romance series with morally grey MCs and all the swoon without the spice?Long Live is the first book in a duology. The story centers around an ancient prophecy, a mortal named Isla, and four immortals that can harness the elements of nature. They must work together to uncover the mysterious prophecy and a tyrant king spreading fear and violence across the land. The story explores the history of each elemental and highlights the consequences of unchecked power and greed and the concept of humanity.Tropes/themes:🗡️Multi POV🗡️Resilient FMC🗡️Morally grey MMCs🗡️Forced proximity🗡️Epic Quest🗡️Prophecies🗡️Found family🗡️Elemental magic🗡️Betrayal🗡️Hidden identities“ɪ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ꜰᴏʟʟᴏᴡ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇᴅɢᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ʙᴇʏᴏɴᴅ, ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ᴡᴇ ᴀʀᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴏɴʟʏ ᴛᴡᴏ ꜱᴛᴀʀꜱ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴋʏ.”“ɪ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴛʜᴀɴ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ. ɪ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅ ʟᴏᴠᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ꜰᴏʀ ᴀɴ ᴇᴛᴇʀɴɪᴛʏ ᴀɴᴅ ɪᴛ ꜱᴛɪʟʟ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅɴ’ᴛ ʙᴇ ᴇɴᴏᴜɢʜ.””ᴅɪᴅ ʜᴇ ᴅᴏ ᴛʜɪꜱ?”This book introduces several relationships and some seriously swoon worthy moments. I loved Isla’s relationship with her flirty best friend Bri and her connection with Rynn and the mysterious villain. The love between Aidan and Kai spans millennia and is absolutely epic!Long Live starts with gentle world building and strong character development. When the action begins, it grabs you by the heart and when the plot twists strike, they leave you breathless. I was unprepared for that cliffhanger and cannot wait for Forever Reign (coming April 23, 2024!)This book is perfect if you’re looking for romance fantasy with rich characters, intriguing interwoven storylines, and amazing banter!

Title: A fun read and a fantastic debut fantasy series.
Review: This story has a unique approach to magic with Elementals – magical beings who control earth, air, fire, water, and aether. The Elementals have influenced human societies for millenia, for better or worse, and decided after a horrible civil war in their homeland of Iona, to sleep until the world needed them again. Now awakened, the Elementals must respond to the prophecy that may bring about the end of the world, or their own downfall.Isla is a young woman who lost much, but still is resilient and strong. When a mysterious man appears before her, telling her to work with the Elementals or risk her family, she is willing to risk anything to get them back.I loved this book! Such a fun and quick read. We get multiple POVs which keeps things interesting, and learn more about Isla and the Elementals. I love how each Elemental’s personality is so tied to their element – Jade is strong and stable, Kai is whimsical and graceful, Aidan is hot tempered, and Rynn is moody and temperamental. Isla has lost so much, but I adore her resilience and strength to know her own mind, and her willingness to save those she loves. And Sebastian – oh, I cannot wait to read more about him in the next book! This book has no spice, but does have plenty of swoon-worthy romance.I kept the rating at 4.5 because I did anticipate some of the twists, and the writing felt a tad simplistic at times, but the overall story was great, especially for a debut work. I am definitely looking forward to the next one – especially after that ending – wow!

Title: Captivating Read
Review: Setting the Scene: Until a thousand years ago, there were four island kingdoms, Iona, Evonlea, Karstos and Ara Mir, overseen by 5 Elementals, one each of Wind (Rynn), Earth (Jade), Water (Kai), and Fire (Aidan), and the more nebulous Aether, a wraith like spiritual being. All but the Aether walked and lived among the humans. When civil war tore the kingdoms apart, essentially annihilating Iona, the four Elementals who walked among them recognized their culpability in the destruction and loss of human lives and chose to have the Aether put them all to sleep, each in their chosen location, unknown to the others. They were to be awakened only if the world or they themselves were in danger. That time has come.Isla lives a relatively normal life in the cold, icy kingdom of Evonlea. She has known heartache, having lost her mother to illness and her love to violence, but she is strong in body and mind, as well as fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Those qualities will prove to be a double-edged sword when her world is turned upside down. After her brother and father are attacked on the road in the neighboring kingdom of Karstos, all too reminiscent of her lost love 2 years earlier, Isla is determined to rescue them and bring them home. In so doing, she triggers a series of events that will lead her to the world of the Elementals and to a journey that will change her life and her world forever. What I Thought: In her debut elemental magic fantasy romance novel, V. B. Lacey has created a world, characters, and a story that will stay with you long after you have finished the book. The imagery is amazing, the characters compelling, and the story captivating.I was concerned about the multiple POVs, but they were exactly what was needed with these strong and unique characters, each with his or her own experiences and emotions that had direct bearings on the events unfolding in this story. The flow was smooth and not at all disconcerting as some multiple POVs can be. Some have commented that the story lagged a bit for them in places, but I did not find that to be true at all. There were no “filler” scenes. Each was integral to the storyline, whether it was action or emotion packed or simply a time of reflection and evaluation. The crescendo of the last few chapters was breathtaking and had me on the edge of my seat, possibly literally. Then there is that heart-stopping cliff hanger on which virtually everyone has commented. That was just cruel, and now we wait for Book 2.Whether or not you are a reader of the elemental magic fantasy romance genre, I highly recommend this book. This is not my usual genre, but I was smitten. My recommendation: sit back with your beverage of choice and prepare to become enthralled.

Review: 4.5 ⭐️1 🌶️The world that VB Lacey crafted in Long Live transports the reader into a world where chaos is starting to reign and a prophecy involving the 5 elementals.Isla’s not exactly who she seems and the dark powers at work in the realm are threatening the stability of everything.Isla works with four of the elementals to search for one of her family heirlooms: a dagger that can remove an elemental’s magic. Her adventures lead her on a path where she grows up and develops feelings for someone she didn’t expect. The magical system in this book was an interesting portrayal of elemental powers with what the elementals could do physically and mentally. The book was a fun read with witty banter, an epic showdown and a devastating cliffhanger ending. Book 2 cannot come soon enough to bring readers some answers.

Review: I really really loved this book. I love the magic system and the world around it. It is very unique and refreshing. I was completely sucked in.It came as a surprise for me but I loved the multi POV. It was a really good way to add depth to all of the characters (and their backstory). Also the slow burn is GIVING 🔥.If you still need convincing, it has morally grey characters, emotional depths, witty banter, plot twist, what’s not to like?

Review: Hobbit vibes. Slow cute atmosphere. Slightly naive in a good way. Was difficult for me to read because its coziness always put me to sleep.

Review: Amazing! I’m usually not a big fan of multiple POVs as i feel like the story can get a bit lost, but this isn’t the case here! There’s a lot of twists and turns, and the relationships between the characters are complex. There’s friendship, romance, betrayal, and more. With that ending, I’m going to need book 2 ASAP!!!

Review: I already knew before starting Long Live that I would definitely enjoy it, but I didn’t realise how much!V. B. Lacey’s debut novel is wonderfully written, andfeatures a strong, determined FMC who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. The story is told from several different POVs, but this is done in such a beautiful and seamless way.I felt like I knew each character well, and I was invested in each of their stories. Aidan’s humour had me laughing so many times! There were definitely a couple of twists, which I loved! I’m also quite partial to a certain morally grey character 👀 That ending though… took me a moment to recover.
