This coloring book offers a unique and engaging way to connect with the wonders of the natural world. Grab your crayons, unleash your creativity, and explore these small North American animals with color!

The smaller North American mammals are so populous and common, so familiar that the average animal lover overlooks them or fails to distinguish among them. How easy to confuse the Thirteen-lined Ground Squirrel with the Least Chipmunk; or mistake a Mink for its Weasel cousin, or a Marten for a Black-footed Ferret. The remedy is observation and instruction — all provided by this coloring book. Here are 46 species of mammals common to North America (including Canada and Mexico), rendered for coloring by Elizabeth McClelland, a specialist in zoological and botanical art. Each animal, from the armadillo, badger, bobcat, kit fox, kangaroo rat, and raccoon to pika, peccary, and yellowbelly marmot, is pictured in its environment with coloring information in the captions; some 25 animals appear in full color on the covers. Captions also include scientific name, family classification, size, range, and other remarks.
46 Unique North American Mammals: Dive into the diverse world of small mammals with detailed illustrations of 46 species. Detailed Artwork Expertly Rendered for Coloring: Elizabeth McClelland’s intricate zoological and botanical illustrations capture each animal’s distinct features and personalities, ensuring each coloring page is accurate and engaging. Enhance Wildlife Recognition: Sharpen your observation skills and learn to identify key characteristics that distinguish often-confused creatures, like the stripes of a thirteen-lined ground squirrel versus the chipmunk’s facial markings. Educational and Fun: Learn fascinating facts about each mammal, including their scientific names, family classifications, size, range, and unique characteristics in the informative captions. Stress-Relieving Mindfulness: Coloring offers a calm, therapeutic escape from the everyday hustle and provides a meditative activity that promotes concentration and serenity. Supports Cognitive Development: As they color and learn, children develop critical thinking skills and expand their knowledge base, which supports their overall cognitive growth. Promotes Conservation: By highlighting various species and their environments, this coloring book encourages appreciation and advocacy for wildlife conservation. 48 pages. 8 1/4 x 11 Inches.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or simply seeking a mindful and informative activity, this coloring book offers a unique journey of discovery, observation, and appreciation for the often-overlooked wonders of the North American small mammal world. So grab your crayons or markers, and prepare to be amazed by their beauty and diversity.

Title: Fantastic coloring book
Review: The perfect companion for The Burgess Animal Book For Children by Thornton Burgess. I bought this as part of our homeschool curriculum and my children loved all the pictures and the little bits of information at the bottom of each page. As we read about an animal in the Burgess book we used the corresponding picture from this coloring book to reinforce learning.

Title: Great Coloring Book
Review: Beautiful detailed coloring book. I am reading “Burgess Animal book for children” and this the perfect companion for my girls! They love to trace the pictures and color them. I would say that this book is advanced for anyone 5 years old and under.

Title: Lovely Coloring Book
Review: My children are really enjoying coloring the pages and learning a few tidbits about them. The animals are not “cartoonish”, which I immensely appreciate. I just wish there were more animals (maybe second, third books?), and a color-reference for each (many appear in the front, back and inside covers, but not all animals). Overall, very pleased!

Title: Great nature coloring book
Review: Bought this and several other Dover press nature themed coloring books for my 8 yr old daughter. She loves them all. These books are best for use with colored pencils rather than crayons. These books are excellent for 7-11year old who likes nature and enjoy coloring.
