Title: Compact and High Quality
Review: I am mainly a guitarist and vocalist who like to do home recordings. I only know a little piano yet this keyboard makes it extremely easy. It worked without any issues in my DAW (Reaper). I’m sure MPC beats is fine too but I haven’t used it. I don’t know how to make the knobs work with my daw but I don’t really care about that feature anyway. What I do care about is how it plays. It’s very compact and portable which is great since I write songs on the go. It also works with my iPad on GarageBand and is easier to use than the touch instruments. The drum pads work well and are responsive. The keys do have to be pushed a little harder than I’d like otherwise it’s kinda quiet on regular piano sounds but that can always be corrected in the midi. I’m not a fan of the joystick for pitch bend and would prefer wheels but the joystick is more compact and gets the job done. It is a little pricey but the build quality and color options makes it worth it. Overall, this keyboard is small and portable and has drastically increased my ability to write piano/synth parts for my songs, even though I’m not a piano player.

Title: Awesome product, but remember…
Review: It’s an awesome product, but remember that having a piece of awesome equipment doesn’t make you a better musician. I and many others have purchased this and similar items with the expectation that we were limited by our hardware, in reality, it was us that needed to learn to utilize the software.Otherwise, it’s great! The velocity sensitive keys are very useful, the dials only seem to effect the drum pads, the joy stick is responsive, the drum pads are a little stiff and take getting used to, and the overall interface is a bit of a challenge. It is not a device you open up and immediately know how to use in every aspect, it takes time and research to fully utilize it. Regardless, it still works very well and is a useful tool for streamlining music production!

Title: great piece of equipment with minor flaws
Review: This keyboard is a great piece of entry level equipment. The price is fairly reasonable.Besides the nice sleek design and physical look, the functionality of the device is reliable. The only issue I would mention is the velocity sensitivity of the keys. The default velocity curve set on the device require you to hit on the keys a bit harder than you would expect. Unfortunately there is nothing in the manual on how to change this, BUT it is POSSIBLE!You need to hold down the “full level” key for over 5 seconds and a velocity curve adjustment will appear on the mini screen that you can tweak with the first four knobs. You can google this for more info on how to set the values to your liking, but the curve that I found works okay is with the following values: (v1: 30.0, v2: 22.0, v3: 20.0, v4: 11.0)Overall great for taking with you to collaborate with others and drafting ideas.

Title: MK3 is a nice upgrade
Review: MPK Mini is one of my most used pieces of gear in tandem with an Ableton Push. MK2 and MK1 had a lot of issues with the USB breaking so hopefully that was fixed with this. But overall, the refresh looks and feels really nice.

Title: Great mini controller!
Review: I looked at this as well as the MPK Mini Plus and Arturia MiniLab3. I chose the Mini Mk3 for its portability. It’s solidly built and great for getting ideas down away from home. You can customize the mapping of the pads and knobs to match whatever software you’re using, DAW or software synth. The included software gives you a lot to start with. It comes with a software synth called Hybrid, a piano and an electric piano, as well as expansion packs that give you access to a lot of drum kits and sampled instruments. I found the MPC Beats “How To” videos on YouTube very valuable in learning all the things it can do. MPC Beats is limited to 8 tracks, but for songwriting, that’s more than enough. I got the all black colorway and love it.

Review: O controlador é sensacional, muito bem construído, as teclas são leves, mas não uma tecla leve vagabunda. Obviamente para o uso ficar melhor algumas configurações são necessárias, como alterar o key velocity, que deixa o apertar das teclas e dos drumpads mais sensível. Uma coisa chata é que é dificil encontrar material de suporte, como tutoriais de configuração. Ele possui entrada para pedal de sustain, mas não encontrei como alterar o CC para que ao apertar o pedal ocorra o efeito de sustain na nota/acorde. O software para editar as funções de cada controle do teclado é bem completo, mas faltou essa opção. O arpejador desse controle é sensacional, e uma mão na roda. Usuários principiantes vão apanhar um pouco pra usar esse controlador, mas se você não se importa em perder um pouco de tempo para configurar ele e deixar do seu gosto, você vai amar esse teclado.

Review: I love this little keyboard, it works great!I use it with Ableton Live, and I love how you can set the dials, for instance to the high-pass filter, it makes it very easy to control your project. The only complaint I have is that the velocity is extremely sensitive, I have to add a velocity filter, or else I have to be very delicate or smash the keys to get the desired sound. The drum pad feels very good, and the overall design is great. It’s also very stylish. The keys are (obviously) very small, so it might feel a bit awkward if you’re accustomed to a regular-sized piano/keyboard.All in all, i would highly recommend this to anyone who wants an easy to set up, portable keyboard. I mean, you can’t go wrong with Akai.
