Title: Amazing. Better than my Shures or Sonys
Review: Update after several months.After having these for many months and doing lots of comparing to other headphones I feel the need to update my review a little bit. They’re still amazing and still 5 stars, but the coloring needs to be mentioned.These sound dark. Very dark. The Bass is amazingly strong and does over shadow things some. The sub bass is incredible, the bass is very strong. The mids are, as said below, recessed, and the highs are very, very gentle. These are (in my opinion) a bass IEM. The separation is still awesome and I still love them, but after trying many other things, I wanted to be honest about the coloring because these are not flat.Update after 100+ hoursTLDR 2: They were the best I’ve tried before and they got better. Embarrasses other headphones at the same price range. Incredible separation, imagery, and non-fatiguing.Warning. Ridiculously long review ahead.After reading through my first review (still below) I realized that I posted more of an emotional response instead of an analytical review. I’ll try to describe these better in this update. I now have 100+ hours in these IEMs and I’ve also had the opportunity to mix my Church’s worship with them. I specifically wanted to wait until I had that chance before posting this update because plugging into good equipment can make a difference.Customer Service:I’m going to start with this because I had a cable failure on day 2 with these. The left earphone started to cut in and out with the non-miced cable. I contacted BASN over Instagram and let them know about the situation. After several days of trouble shooting and back-and-forth messaging they said they would send me a new cable if I would cut up my old, bad cable. I was fine with this because it was bad anyways and I figured it was their way of proving that I wasn’t just trying to scam an extra cable out of them. I made the cut, send them the pic and my mailing info, and then a week later received my new cable in the mail. The whole time the Instagram contact was VERY friendly. There were some times when communication was unclear because English isn’t his/her first language, but like I said, they were SUPER friendly, eager to help, responsive and very helpful. 5 stars for customer service!Fit:The tips make a big difference! I took these on a 2-3 hour road trip and wore them the whole way up. It was then that I learned about the fit effects of the different ear tips. Normally I use the standard dome small silicone ear tip for my earphones. After about an hour with these I noticed that there was a building painful pressure in the bottom part of the concha (look it up) of my ear and it got exponentially worse when I smiled because my ears raise a little bit when I do smile. What I found was that switching to the small double flap silicone ear tips actually brought the BMasters into my ears a little deeper, bringing the whole earphone closer into my head and deeper into my ear canal. This also positioned the earphone in a way that removed the pressure on the bottom of my concha and eliminated my pain. This did change the sound a teensy bit… flattening (less 3D sounding) it a little bit, but for a pain free experience it was worth it to me. I’m incredibly grateful that BASN provided such a wide variety of ear tips because if they hadn’t, these would probably be going back. After all, who would keep something that hurts them?Accessories:I so many different ear tips provide for so many different fit options. Two cables provide a back up for when one fails. Case is super groovy. The 1/4″ converter is awesome for when I needed to mix for Church.Burn In:I’ve always been skeptical of burn-in, I did experience some with these. I found the mids come more alive and the sound stage opens up even more. They were great during hour one, they’re wonderful after hour 100. There was no noticeable change (to me) in the bass or the highs, but only in the mids waking up some and the sound stage and separation improving. Again, not tons (because it was always great), but to me, it was there.Sound:I already mentioned that I experienced some burn-in, so I’ll write all of this from current sound (100-150 hours).Clarity, Separation, & Imagery:I’m going to start my sound review with this because, to me, this is the highlight of these earphones. The BASN BMasters are THE most image-full, instrument separating earphone I’ve ever heard. Instruments don’t mesh together, they compliment each other. Crescendos don’t grow, they blossom. Fade-ins don’t gradually appear, they sneak up on you and envelop you like your girl coming up behind you and throwing her arms around you in a big hug while pressing her face against your back. Mixing with them is a dream because they isolate incredibly and provide spectacular separation so you have no problem deciding what changes to make. I tried some Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros that were lying around at church and they sounded veiled in comparison, like there was a blanket between me and the music.A Note here: “Behold Our God” by Sovereign Grace Music has an intro fade-in that actually startled me with its imagery. I know this song, I knew the intro was coming. I wasn’t prepared to hear what I did. Find it, listen to it. The grow to the first piano chord got me. This was one of the songs that I noticed the largest difference between the BASN BMasters and all my other headphones & earphones.Bass:Great punch. Decent decay. Awesome separation. You can’t compare a balanced armature driver to the dynamic drivers when it comes to bass. It’s just not fair, the dynamic wipes the floor with the BAs.Mids:Very good. Sound stage puts the mids back to about the 10th row, whereas most other headphone’s mids feel like you’re in the 2nd row. They’re still balanced and again, GREAT separation. Very clear and VERY “real” sounding.Highs:Gentle. That’s the best way I can put it. There’s NO sibilance and I don’t know if they roll off or not (I’m terrible at telling stuff like that) but I’m very sensitive to highs and I love these. Still clear though.Sound SignatureI’d say that there is a slight emphasis on the bass, and a slight backing-off of the highs. The mids, while they seem even, seem to be a little further back in the sound stage than other earphones & headphones.Non-Fatiguing:These are possibly the least fatiguing earphones I’ve ever listened to, which is strange to me considering how phenomenal they sound. Maybe it’s because the treble is no easy-going. The only time my ears want a break sound wise is when I listen to a lot of bass-heavy music. The Shure SE215s did the same thing to me, but way worse. These take 2-3 times longer than the Shure SE215s to fatigue my ears bass wise. These are also WAY more gentle than my Sony MDR-V6s.Thanks for reading this review. I hope it was helpful. Enjoy them. =)Original Review:TLDR (Too Long, Didn’t Read): These PRO BMasters are the best I’ve ever tried in every aspect. The Blue BMasters seemed broken. Order these now.I ordered these (PRO Gold and Black) and the “normal” BASN BMasters in Blue. I wondered what the differences were (if any) because the description says that these are “upgraded,” “pro version,” and have “increased bass” compared to the blue ones. I asked about the sound signature differences in multiple places and couldn’t get a good answer anywhere. A quick note on this… it seems like the seller is either A) Not very knowledgeable on the topic, B) Doesn’t speak English very well, or C) Both. When I asked the response time was quick, but the answers were almost purposely vague. One time they said “Some people think they sound the same, others think they sound different.” Obviously that answer helped zero.For my tests I played everything from my iPhone7+ with a black AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC. I purposely selected several tracks that I know very well and test all my headphones with. As a note, my favorite headphones (until now) has been the Shure SE215s. I LOVED Shure’s sound signature. Because I know the SE215’s so well, they were my baseline comparison. I also have a pair of Sony MDR-V6’s that I use on occasion and compared them to these BASN BMasters as well.GET THESE PRO BMASTERS, NOT THE NORMAL ONES.When my packages arrived, I first opened the blue “normal” BMasters. I hooked them up, plugged them in, and hit play and was instantly disappointed. I don’t know if it was just the set I got, but the sound was terrible. They sounded like they were very veiled. You know when you’re at a concert and you step into the bathroom and you can still hear the music, but it sounds veiled and muffled because you’re in another room? That’s what the normal blue BMasters sounded like. I tried different cables and ear pieces and nothing changed. I unplugged them and boxed them back up within 5 minutes. Then I tried the PRO Gold + Blacks wondering if I would get the same thing…RECALIBRATION. – 8Bit by Deadmau58bit by Deadmau5 is always the first song that I play. As soon as I hit play my brain had to do a quick recalibration. It always does when you first hear a new headphone. I heard a strong bass presence, I heard decent bass attack and decent, and I heard good separation. The other thing I noticed was that it seemed less scratchy. That’s the best way I can describe it. I hit pause and went back to my Shure 215s and actually went “yuck.” By comparison, the 215’s (Which up to this point were my favorite earphones) seemed overwhelmed by everything that was going on. The sub definitely takes a front row in this song compared to the rest of the track, but hey, it’s Deadma5, it’s to be expected.THIS IS DIFFERENT. – Everlong by Foo FightersThis song starts out normal until the main guitar riff starts, then things change. They change because the 16th notes on the HighHats don’t take a back seat, they just stay there. When Dave starts in on his vocals nothing sounds sacrificed or squished. Its just…. there along with everything else. This is the first time I also notice that the sound stage is different than these compared to the Shure 215’s or the Sony MDR-V6’s. The Shures sound flat, overworked, and strained by comparison. The Shures also sound like you’re sitting dead center and in the 2nd row. These BMasters sound like you’re maybe 10-12 rows back and sound like you’re in a room with big acoustics by comparison. This lack of “in your face vocals” first made me frown, but after listening to them for a couple of hours I’ve learned to appreciate and love them. It sounds more real. It sounds like I’m seated happily in my own seat in the concert instead of in the mosh pit in front of the stage, and I love it.NO SIBILANCE! – Disaster Button by Snow PatrolFor me, this song is the song that separates the men from the boys among headphones. I hate sibilance (That s sound that lingers and can pierce and hurt) and this song is brutally filled with it. For me, this will be a make or break for these earphones. I hit play and wait. Again, I’m met with my comfy seat the 12th row of my acoustically big room and I brace myself for the worst. When the cymbal starts, I’m surprised because it’s even further back on the stage than I remember. A few bars later and the floor tom hits and my jaw drops. I’ve never heard a drum sound so real. By the time the 1:00 mark hits in the song I’m reacquainting myself with this song in a good way. As the song got busier and busier I find ZERO sibilance and the BMasters are just shining brighter and brighter because they’re handling everything better than I’ve ever heard before. I hit pause and throw on my Sony MDR-V6’s and am grossed out at how bright they are by comparison. I notice that the Sony’s do have better attack and decay and results in a sharper sound, but they’re also way more tiring. I can’t listen to my Sony’s for long periods of time. I feel like I could listen to these for a while without ear fatigue.IS THIS FOR REAL? – Dear John by Taylor SwiftI decide to change gears and I wanna know how female voices sound. After finding this song in my playlist I hit play and instantly hit pause again not believing what I just heard. I grab my Shure 215’s again and start the song over. Yup, that guitar sounds normal. Put on my Sony’s and do the same. Yeah… brighter and sharper, but normal still. Put in my BMasters and try again. Nope. This isn’t normal. The opening guitar chord stops me again. It sounds like when I strum my own guitar on my lap. I hear the pick pluck every string individually. I unpause and I hear the steel guitar wail and sing like I’ve never heard before. When the bassist plucks his first note I melt into my chair. This isn’t music, it’s magic. The balance, the harmonic happiness that I’m experiencing can’t be explained. It’s the sound that a mixer seeks. When Taylor starts to sing I for once understand why she makes so much money. Its gentle, direct, and soft. At 1:47 when the chorus starts I get goosebumps. I wanna hurry and reexperience all my other music, but I can’t find the heart to cut such a beauty short. Did you know that the male backup vocalist sings harmony for most of the chorus? I didn’t until now.And that’s how the rest of the song goes and the same for the rest of my music. I’m rediscovering it. I had no idea that so much actually got recorded. I’m amazed.Thank you for reading my absurdly long review. It seems criminal that these are priced the way that they are, and yet at the same time it’s a blessing. I never imagined that my music could sound this way. Its the stuff that people talk about. If you’ve never had a good set of earphones, please buy these.

Review: I have a confession to make. I am an ‘audio junkie’. Not an audiophile but an audio junkie. I chase sound always looking for something better than what I have. I was looking for a new set of IEM’s to go along with the 40+ pairs I already have. I’m always looking for a new take on the sound coming from the IEM manufacturers. I read what’s new and pass on a lot of the same tech that is simply ‘tweaked’ from one company to another.Enter BASN. One of the rare IEM’s I had not tried until now.I usually buy from overseas sources since the selection is much better than it is here in the States (but it is getting better). I can wait two to three weeks to get them. However, as a lot of you probably do I was sitting on the couch looking and what was “new” in the IEM world and noticed these. I had seen BASN before but one thing or another didn’t get me to pull the trigger for some reason.Anyway, I read the reviews here on Amazon and on the web and for the price point, sure…time to pull the trigger.I was not expecting much but over the last 48 hours, I have been extremely impressed with these IEMs. Clear. Great bass. Mids as mentioned in a couple of reviews here is a bit recessed (not screamy!) but still very much present. I would not call these IEMs dark at all. I actually tilt towards a bit more of a mid to treble IEM. Don’t get me wrong, the bass is quite solid but I would classify these IEMs as more tone/vocal IEMs. Well balanced across the spectrum and balanced sound.The packaging was insane! Nice box. More tips come with the IEMs than I have ever seen with any IEM. It even came with a 3.5 to 6.35mm adapter. I have never seen that outside of buying an IEM cable. Finding the right tip for most folks should not be a problem. I think they have all of them in the box.You also get TWO cables with the IEMs. One with a MIC and one without. Now the cable is a bit strange. Instead of being shaped for the ear, it’s straight and you bend the cable to fit your ear. Now, this was strange to me. Again, another “never seen that before”. The cable is soft and sounds pretty decent to me. I usually mess with different cables after about 50 hours of break-in (yes, these do need some break-in time) just to see if I can improve the sound but out-of-the-box, solid.But…the tips.Okay, so…as I mentioned you get a plethora of tips with the IEMs. That said, my ears are a bit weird when it comes to tips. I normally have to use after-market tips to get the sound I am looking for. These IEMs demand the correct tips for your ears. I tried all the tips that came with the IEM and sure enough, I had to break out my goto tips. After that, these IEMs really came alive.For those who are looking for a good, solid, under 100.00 IEM I can recommend these. The sound is full. The soundstage is good (better than a lot of the IEMs I have) and is extremely easy to drive. You should have no problem driving them with your phone.

Title: Stellar Bass, but….
Review: When iemâs start to get up around $100 or more I get a little more picky. Iâll start with the good. The bass is really stellar on these, it hits quick and hard, and sub-bass is right there with it, giving it a nice rumble, and the bass is nicely controlled and textured, itâs a really nice low end listening experience. Also instrument detail is nice and can be pin pointed easily but there is a slight congestion feeling to them as the stage is below average in size.The mids, this is where I start to have problems, theyâre âslightlyâ recessed, and the vocals sit in the back dominated by the low end(crossover issue for me), a veiled experience on some songs and to make matters worse, the treble is rolled off, so thereâs no air to these, though they are smooth and can be listened to for long sessions, but for my personal taste, I just need a touch more sparkle, with vocals slightly more forward, and a slightly larger sound stage, and this can be had on cheaper iemâs, so with that Iâm just ok with them.They do come with enough ear-tips to be happy with, fit is awesome with a flawless bass and they look nice!>>>I will note that when I use the XDUOO TA-10 it balanced the sound out much better and for whatever the reasons are, it did bring the vocals up more evenly with the bass.
