Title: Engrossing police novel
Review: I really enjoyed reading a police thriller without sex, foul language and unnecessary descriptive violence. Good plot and lots of twists kept me reading all evening. I’m going to read the next 11 in the series!

Title: Well written and good pace.
Review: The story was well thought out and delivered with a well written style. A little on the family stuff for me but the criminology was pretty interesting.

Title: Solid Police Drama
Review: This book is the first in a series of 12 books – so far. The books are clean police dramas. There is death, of course, but no in-your-face violence or gore. There is also no foul language or sex. The story is tight and the reader discovers clues alongside the detectives. I am certain that there will be no nightmares from reading these books! I am off to read book 2.

Title: Decent Read
Review: This police procedural murder mystery was not bad. The plot was interesting although predictable and the characters were nicely presented. I would read another in this series.

Title: Good Book
Review: I appreciate the fact that this is a “clean suspense” book and designated as such near the title. As advertised, there was no profanity (yay!), no graphic violence and no sex. Yet, it was a very good story and suspenseful plot. I like the main character, Danny Sullivan, and the plot was well-done also. The characters were fleshed out and the pace was good, without a lot of repetition like some books have. I look forward to reading more from this author!

Title: A solid police procdural
Review: Boston Police Officer Danny Sullivan has just gotten his promotion to Detective, something his father and grandfather never achieved in their careers. He, his wife, and his whole family are thrilled. But his first case with his new, much more experienced partner, is a missing woman, a nurse at Boston Medical Center, who very shortly turns up dead. She had previously reported a prowler, but there is little evidence to go on. All the usual suspects, her boyfriend, her ex-husband, her coworkers, have alibis, and just don’t seem good fits for what happened. Then a second woman vanishes, and is soon found dead, in the same place the first woman’s body was found. There’s a superficial similarity, in height, dark eyes, dirty blonde hair. Both bodies, and the site they were left at, are remarkably “clean,” the only possible clue being a single footprint, indicating that their killer may have been wearing boat shoes. Oh, and she’d reported a prowler recently, too. When Danny takes it on himself to look at the last year’s worth of prowler reports, he finds a recent large uptick–from women who have dark eyes and dirty blonde hair, who are about the same height as the two murder victims. When he begins to suspect that the killer could be a cop, he knows he’s treading on very dangerous ground.Danny’s dilemma, as well as the strain on his wife, nine months pregnant and due any day now, from his long hours, is very well handled. What’s also well handled is the setting. Often when a book is set in Boston, I wind up wincing every few minutes because what we get is Boston As Seen On TV, not the real city. I don’t know whether Dalglish has a Boston background, or just does really good research, but nothing leaped out at me as wrong. The few times I even had a question, a few seconds on Google showed me that he’d gotten it right. (For instance, a parish in Southie that has changed its name in recent years, and a T station that’s on a part of the system I’ve never used regularly.)It’s a good, solid, police procedural, with real tension and good characterization. On top of that, it gets a city I know and love right for a change!I bought this audiobook.

Title: Boston Homicide –
Review: This was a well written and fairly quick read. It was also a “clean read”; no foul language or raunchy sex to run a good story. Kudos to the author for his integrity.

Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in one go. Danny Sullivan is a new Detective and knows he has to prove himself. Two women are murdered and it becomes obvious it’s the same killer but when Danny begins to suspect the murderer could be close to home he’s removed from the case and decides to attempt to solve it on his own. I’m now looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.

Review: Started off slow, but gets better eventually. Keeps you on your toes until the end. The family stuff however is boring to read.

Review: Finally! I have found an author who can tell a great story without smearing it with explicit scenes or foul language! Danny Sullivan, just promoted to detective, the junior partner to a far more experienced policeman, finds his feet handling a series of murders that initially seem to leave no clues. His dedication to justice is challenged, both from his colleagues and his own family, but he is unswerving. Well-told story which kept my interest – I read it in one sitting! I shall try some more of John C Dalglish’s novels!!
