Title: This is the right book to start your recorder journey.
Review: I bought this book and the recorder, thinking that playing a musical instrument would be fun. This book is great. It is intended for classroom instruction, I think. Easy to follow, each lesson builds on the prior one. The illustrations clearly indicate the note fingering on the recorder. Each lesson teaches how to read music and play the instrument. Each lesson has numerous short practice songs and timing exercises. I do believe I can learn to read music and play the recorder with this book. If you’ve never picked up the recorder and you want to learn, try this book.

Title: Great for starters
Review: I was asked to be a long-term sub in music, the students couldn’t wait to do recorders in class and well it had been years (25+) since I had played a recorder. I purchased the book so I could learn a long with the students. This also helped me with the students together. Since I was only in the class for 4 months many students didn’t get the book so I projected my book on the smart board with our visualizer program and the students could follow along with me in class and it allowed me to help them learn as the book offers the ability to show what you know in it. If I go back to music next year I will recommend the book when purchasing recorders.

Title: Good teaching tool
Review: As long as the students use this and stay focused it is a good text. They still like to try to learn on their own. We have one student that can do that so all think they can too – NOT. The teacher likes it, that’s 3/4 of the battle.
