In this “brave and heartbreaking novel that digs its claws into you and doesn’t let go, long after you’ve finished it” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author) from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of All Your Perfects, a workaholic with a too-good-to-be-true romance can’t stop thinking about her first love.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

An honest, evocative, and tender novel, It Ends with Us is “a glorious and touching read, a forever keeper. The kind of book that gets handed down” (USA TODAY).

Title: RE: Unique Perspective on DV
Review: Let me start with this—I am not usually a bandwagon reader. I have not loved several really popular books, and have left a few partially read rather than push through them. Rarely do I love a movie/show more than a written work; I suspect that will never change. I ordered this last year and just read it because of the media from the movie’s release. Actually I had an audiobook credit and listened to most of it. Not unlike life, this story honors different perspectives and includes explanations that are often used as excuses for the actions of these characters. Ultimately it paints a detailed picture of the complexities of abuse, trauma, and breaking cycles. Life is not as concrete as it seems, and neither is abuse. The good, warm, funny, passionate, and exciting moments are some of what make abuse of any kind so confusing, and alarming, and are big parts of why so many abusers garner second, third, tenth chances. If time with abusive people was all bad, far fewer would stay and the statistics would be far less alarming. But, sometimes really good people go through really hard things, and, they are changed forever, in negative ways. Staying or leaving…those who endure abuse often stay because they genuinely love those who hurt them and in many cases have been raised to believe love includes abuse. And sometimes, they find themselves in the exact spot they swore they would never be, with a new perspective on life and the people in it.Hoover, as always, has a unique tone and perspective. It is intriguing to encounter the things she makes note of, the perspectives she honors, and the personal tone she tends to color her stories with each time. Be warned, this piece takes readers on a journey beginning through the eyes of a child and eventually coming full circle as life permits her the chance to better understand the journeys of her protector, and her abuser.TW: domestic violence, trauma, sexual assault

Title: Healing
Review: There are no words, there were moments I felt anxiety and triggered but I am one of the lucky ones I suppose. I got to turn my lamp back on, look at my sleeping kids in their rooms stress free – and go back to bed with the love of my life, and remind myself all is RIGHT in the world now. I don’t need to feel that way anymore. I’m a survivor, I’m safe, and I’m in my safe place with someone who is home/safe harbor. I loved Lillie’s courage, I left shortly after my son was born and the father is not involved. This book is heart wrenching and really reminds me of how far I have come. I pray others going through DV have the courage to help themselves or reach out to people who can help. I am living proof, it won’t be the end of the world; there is LIFE after, HEALING after and PEACE after. Takes a whole to get use too, but it’s so worth it once it becomes your new norm. I would never ever allow anything to come between me and my “limits” ever again. I found happiness again.

Title: Getting out
Review: This was a hard book to read due to the nature of what happens. There were no trigger warnings listed so you don’t really know what to expect while reading this. I wanted to read this before the movie came out when I saw the trailers for it, and if it weren’t for some of those early trailer releases I wouldn’t have known this book was about domestic violence/abuse. So I took that into consideration when reading, just didn’t know how much abuse there was. You meet Lily who opens her first flower shop in Boston and she meets Ryle who’s a neurosurgeon at a local hospital. There are flashbacks throughout the book to young Lily so you can see how she grew up and about her first love Atlas, which he has a sad story growing up but Lily helps him as much as she can. Ryle and Lily start to get close by taking things slow with their relationship. Then enters in Atlas who Lily never expected to see again and he’s concerned for Lily being with Ryle when he see how he acts. I was not a fan of Ryle because of how he was turning out to be. Things start to get complicated between Lily and Ryle and she goes to Atlas for help. This made me love Atlas for what he does for Lily.

Title: Just keep swimming <3
Review: One of the main criteria I have for a good book is to have characters that feel/real/.This is the first Colleen Hoover book I have read but I absolutely loved it. These felt like real people you could meet in your everyday life. I felt it placed responsibility on the right people in the story and me be rooting for an ending I didn’t even know I wanted. I felt there was not a single boring chapter in this book or any section I was just trying to “get past to get to the good part”. I would highly recommend and I am excited to read more Colleen Hoover books.

Review: I’m a little behind the times and hadn’t heard of the book until the film came out, but wanted to read it first. It’s so beautifully written even the tough parts. I enjoyed it so much I ordered It starts with us before getting to the final chapters so that I could continue the story. It’s packed with so much detail and emotion.Since reading I’ve now seen the film and it missed so many things out that felt important or strong points to me. Definitely give it a read if you enjoyed the film, there’s so much more to tell!
