‘It’s like Jack Reacher at eighty … with a dog. Fast-paced suspense and edge-of-your-seat thrills!’

Dirk De Graaf has kept his deadly secret for twenty-three years. Not one person on the planet knows.

Until today.

A chance encounter in the street threatens to expose everything and topple an empire he built with little more than ruthless cunning.

But it’s just one man. One old man. And one old man can be dealt with easily enough.

Or so Dirk De Graaf thinks.

He should have picked a different old man because some old habits are hard to break and getting into trouble is Albert’s speciality.

Title: Once a cop, always a cop
Review: Tom Selleck’s next role? A retired detective and his smart dog work to solve crimes that are virtually unknown. good characters with a believable mystery and somewhat believable canines. This is a start of what looks to be a good series.

Title: The Most Refreshing Mystery
Review: The best part about this book is that I loved the humanization of everyday characters and L.E.O.s, and the author’s treatment of women and their relationships to other people in the novel. The true skill and magnificent society viewpoint shows that the author is very open minded and level headed. No single focus on “beautiful” people. The lack of single minded focus on blue eyes or blond hair was a complete relief and breath of fresh air. That is what I find in too many books from my country & it’s hard to ignore.Loved this novel from beginning to the end. An absolute joy to read.

Review: I feel like I have waited for so long when in reality it’s only been a couple of years since I first discovered Albert and Rex and yes, Steve Higgs. As a dog lover, I totally appreciate the writing of Rex, an oversized German Shepherd kicked out of the police for being too clever. This storyline was a little more convoluted than I had found their British adventures and I think that might have just been down to some of the different sounding names, cultural references etc but it made for a great book and one that marks out several key differences to what has gone before, all with the same determined and indomitable due of Albert and Rex. Well written and well rounded characters with a plot that made for a great mystery. Steve Higgs has done it again. Can’t wait to read book 2

Review: Wow, what an opener to the new adventures of Albert & Rex – the only downer is having to wait for each book rather than binge reading the series! As always Steve has created an excellent story line, both in this book itself and also to run through the series. Well written, excellent escapism and definitely LAUGH OUT LOUD at Rex! Read at your peril – in my opinion he’s one of the most addictive authors currently writing!
