Odette is one of the best writers of contemporary romance I have ever read. Do NOT miss these books. – 5 star Amazon review
~
I’ve never been in love.
I’ve never had an orgasm, but I’ve faked plenty.
I want to experience love. Real, passionate love.
I don’t want to die.
It’s funny what blurts out of your mouth when the plane you’re on is going down, and I didn’t hold back with my seat mate when my plane decided to crash.
My hysterical confessions didn’t faze the muscular stranger that sat beside me. In fact, he promised if we survived, he’d give me my first orgasm.
We survived.
I came.
And then he left without telling me who he was.
On the first day of my job, I stood in front of the Vancouver Wolves hockey team and called out a number. #33.
Imagine my shock when he skated forward.
Max is an incredible hockey player, whose wild, out-of-control antics have almost derailed his career. So many secrets shroud his past and continue to threaten his future.
Now he’s my secret. And that secret could ruin everything.
Puck Me SECRETLY. Some secrets are too big to keep.

Title: Fast paced hockey romance
Review: Rory is a recent college grad and daughter of the owner of Vancouver’s NHL franchise. She’s returning to Canada to intern with the team as her father’s assistant GM. Max is a talented hockey player who was fired from his last team for fighting. He’s traveling to Canada for a last chance spot with the Vancouver team. As the book progresses, each is trying to do their best in their new roles. While both want to avoid distractions and any conflicts of interest, neither can ignore the chemistry. As they navigate decisions about media and game strategy and travel together, they begin to bond. Max trusts Rory and respects her honesty. Rory values Max’s strength and protectiveness. This is a fast paced page turner, from start to finish. There are a couple of darker plotlines about the undercurrents of misogyny and sexual assault in professional sports.Fantastic opening and meet cute involving a plane crash, true confessions, a rescue and a single encounter that isn’t.

Title: An over the top but entertaining hockey romance
Review: I’d rate this 3.5 stars but liked it enough to round it up to 4. Honestly, the title on this made me pass it over a couple of times previously before picking it up and while I think there were a few areas that let the book down (according to my preferences, of course), it showed a lot of promise. Rory is the daughter of the owner and general manager of the Wolves, a successful hockey team. On the plane ride from hell, while being petrified of plane flights herself, she sits next to Max who is kind enough to stay with her and calm her down. They make some ridiculous agreement about how if they survive the flight, he’ll give her her first orgasm. Long story short, they hook up briefly enough for him to make good on his word and sneaks out before the morning leaving her nothing but a note. Rory’s been called back by her family to Vancouver to make good on her promise to work for her dad for a year after getting to go to college in the States. Thinking/hoping she’s starting at a lower level position such as web design, she’s thrown to the wolves (see what I did there – don’t worry – the author takes advantage of this pun, too), made second in charge and has to put on her big girl panties to help run the show. Turns out Max has been traded for a bargain to Vancouver Wolves after a string of bad boy publicity disasters ending with him getting into a violent fight with a teammate. No one knows why, hence the word ‘secret’ in the book’s title.I found the story entertaining and the dialogue good for the most part. I found Rory a bit too wishy-washy. One minute she’s supposed to be putting on this face of strength and bravery, the next she’s not speaking up for herself or just accepting her father’s decisions. There was your classic mean girl character that Rory basically let trample all over her. I’m not gonna lie, it made me grind my teeth a bit, especially when her father would tell her to deal with issues, only to counteract her decisions in front of others who were demeaning her. Ah, no. This just made me a little ball of frustration and anger myself. Max, on the other hand, was fabulous for most of the book. The author had him fall into the ‘I can’t have any distractions and a relationship with you is exactly that’ and ‘I’m not good for you’ moments and while these are trigger points for me wanting to burn things down in anger, he was such a solid character that his couple of lapses didn’t bother me all that much. In fact, he was jealous, possessive, dominant and likeable enough that he’s probably the reason I rounded the book up in my rating rather than down. He knew what he wanted and went all in with Rory.I liked the focus the book had on the sport side of things. Since Rory was 2IC, the story focussed around all aspects of the game: media, training, coaching, away games, the fans, etc. I really enjoyed this because I’m one of those readers that likes sports romances because I like sports, so appreciate when there’s some detail across the plot. That being said, there were quite a few moments in the book that were over the top and unbelievable and while I’m okay with a bit of creative license, a few areas pushed the envelope a bit too far for me to rate the book any higher. For example, Rory virtually running the team with no prior experience and her background/study being art. Her going down and putting on a dominant display at the ripe old age of what? Early 20s? She said she hadn’t watched hockey since she was young but still knows all the ins and outs…but didn’t know who Max was. I also didn’t like how her relationship with her parents flip flopped at times. They loved her and were supportive…until they weren’t. This was a really big frustration point in the story and I wanted a grand piano to drop on Rory’s mother at one point. One of the villains basically becoming a hero of the story – hard pass. Some of the plot points being revealed conveniently? Righto. Oh, and next time I call the police, I expect a full SWAT team to arrive, please and thank you. There was also a bit of repetition throughout the book. Sooooo much inner monologue drama from Rory, whose point of view the book is from. She liked Max and would then swear off him because of the circumstances surrounding them. Then she’d get jealous. He’d reassure her. Something else would happen to make her give herself a talk about how they had no future, Max didn’t want her and that she needed to accept this and stay away from him. Wash, rinse and repeat. It wasn’t to the point of nausea, but it was definitely there and just created needless angst and drama that didn’t really contribute to the story line and just made Rory seem a bit clingy and whiney. Again, she goes from strong, to damsel in distress that can’t speak up for herself, to boss babe. She’d cry, try to flee/walk away, then Max would come to the rescue.A lot of the book’s plot points and areas of great angst you could pretty much figure out, making a lot of the book predictable (especially if you’ve read a few books in this trope) and a wee bit cheesy, but I thought the secret dangled throughout the novel was pretty well done. There were a couple of typos throughout the book – nothing major, but a couple really stood out. So while some of the repetition, over the top, overly convenient (and eye roll worthy) plot points would have me rating a book closer to three stars, Max and the focus on some aspects of hockey carried this book through enough that I enjoyed it. Everything works out (like I said, a bit too conveniently) and is wrapped up satisfactorily and I liked the ending. I guess I’d describe the book as cheesy, but cute 🙂 Kind of like ending a review with an emoticon :)))

Title: Romantic, thrilling, and so unbearably sweet
Review: I can’t say enough how much I loved this book. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I loved this book so much, I felt like I would be doing an incredible disservice to this author to not say anything.I absolutely ADORED Max. In every single way. He is everything a woman could possibly want in a man. Confident, sexy, driven, protective, and so damn GOOD. All the way to his bones, he is just a good person. And Rory was one of the best heroines I’ve ever read. I usually have a hard time truly loving the female leads in books because a lot of times they are written to be such weak and fickle people. But Rory was not like that. She was funny, honest, strong, and so genuine to everyone, especially Max. That was SO refreshing. The romance in this book was so sweet, so passionate, I loved it from the moment we first met the characters. And the sex scenes in this book were some of the best I’ve ever read! Done correctly, sensual scenes can make the romantic storyline connect so much more to the reader. And the ones in this book did just that. My only complaint is that I wish there were more of them. I couldn’t get ENOUGH of Max in these scenes. When I say I loved this book from the first chapter, I mean I was HOOKED immediately. It was so funny and sweet with just the right amount of angst to keep your heart pounding and yearning for more. It was one of those books I wished I could read for the first time all over again as soon as I was finished. If you’re looking for a sweet and sexy romance that makes you laugh, makes your heart squeeze in your chest, and gives you butterflies all over your belly, then you will not be disappointed with this one.

Review: This book was so good that Iâm mad at myself for finishing it so quickly. It had everything to make it a perfect standalone; a secret romance between a hockey player and his boss, an interesting plot that played out with amazing pacing, and intense scheming and intrigue that kept building in suspense until the intense climax. Needless to say, I couldnât put this book down yet I didnât want it to end at the same time. This book does deal with some heavy topics, so please check for trigger warnings before you decide to read. A brief list is included in my review on Goodreads.Newly graduated and grudgingly heading for a year-long internship with her father, Rory would rather be anywhere but on this plane homeâeven if the handsome stranger beside her makes it more tolerable. When her foreboding feeling turns out to be right and the plane is headed for a crash landing, however, Rory can do nothing but cling to the handsome man beside her and rely on him to keep them both safe. Having survived and gone back to their separate lives, Rory tries to put the whole ordeal with Max out of her head, but coming face to face with him on her first day at her new internship drastically changes her plans. Now put in charge of his adjustment to her fatherâs hockey team, Rory has no choice but to work closely alongside the man who in one night showed her more care and pleasure than sheâs ever had before. With undeniable sparks still flying between them, Rory and Max get closer, but as schemes escalate from both outside and inside the arena and conspire to discredit not only Max, but Rory and the entire team, they need to decide if their secret relationship is worth losing their lifelong dreams for.The plot progression in this book was fantastic. The author didnât use the relationship between the MCs as a crutch and instead perfectly wove it into the story, making readers invested in not only the romance, but the charactersâ lives beyond it as well. The plot was intense and had great tension, and in my opinion, I loved the drama of it all. Finding out the outcome of the issues going on around the characters drove me forward when reading, and the fast pacing made it easy to get lost in the book and enjoy it.The romance between Rory and Max was one of my favourites Iâve read this year. I loved the characters separately, and when they came together the relationship was fun and had me laughing, intense and passionate with great spice, and so sweet I couldnât stop smiling. Both MCs worked for the relationship they wanted with the other and in doing that, had heartfelt journeys as both individuals and as a couple to become the best versions of themselves. Since this is a standalone, Rory and Maxâs story is complete, coming to a satisfying close, but I hope we get to see a glimpse of their future in the next book.I really enjoyed reading this book!

Review: The story hooked me from the very first page and, based on some previous experiences, I really expected it to come into ups and downs, but, the whole book kept on maintaining an amazing rhythm, even getting interesting cliffhangers and plot twists merged with some very steamy hot sex scenes.Talking about how fluid a writer can be, this book brigs a clean, steady and completely believable story, better than that, without one single âclicheâ.Our couple is adorable as Max is not only smoking hot as only a Hockey Player can be, but he is also very sweet and a complete gentleman. Our Rory is a brainiac little woman that, despite of having everything to being raised as a spoiled brat, she is, however, very fare, straightforward and honest as a person can be.I simply loved both of them. They made that kind of couple that showed the chemistry from their very first interaction.Would, for sure, start the second book from this series and would recommend this one for anyone, no doubt in my mind.

Review: The title of this book is a little deceiving.Yes it can be categorised in âhokey romanceâ but this book is so much more. Itâs about misogyny, about finding your place in the world, about helping the people you care for with everything you can.I needed a double POV and would have liked to understand Maxâs way of thinking, but I enjoyed this book and it was unexpected.
