FILTRATION: Purigen ranges in color from almost white (cream) to light yellow. Seachem Purigen is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water.
SELECTIVITY: Seachem Purigen is an organic filtration resin that works hard to remove nitrogenous compounds and waste produced by fish, corals, and even plants, making your water crystal clear.
CAPACITY: Being both spherical and macroreticular, Seachem Purigen has microscopic pores that increase its usable surface area to many times that of a purely spherical resin.
REGENERATION: Once Seachem’s Purigen is exhausted, it can be regenerated with a solution of bleach and water. The bleach will literally “burn off” the organics that have been removed from the tank.
SAFETY: Some slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen and render regeneration difficult. Do not reuse if odor of bleach/chlorine is detectable. In case of doubt, soak beads in small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a chlorine test kit.

Title: A 24 hour miracle in a bag
Review: I absolutely love this product! It works miracles on my tanks. I have two heavily stocked tanks. Yes, I committed the ultimate “no, no.” I proactively ordered Purigen so that I could have it on hand when needed.Well… the time came… Something went awry with my 5 gallon tank and I lost two ghost shrimp and a cory cat within a few days. These die offs most likely created an ammonia spike and the remaining fish were feeling it. One of my mollies kept brushing against the plants in the tank. I tested the water and the ammonia was in the “stress” range. I broke out my new bag of Purigen, read the directions and then inserted it on top of my filter where water would flow through it. Within just 10 or so minutes. The mollie was no longer brushing up against the plants. The next day when I got up and looked at the tank, the water was crystal clear and all fish were swimming actively.About a week later, my 10 gallon tank started to get a yellow-green dingy appearance. I smelled the water and it had a bad odor. The fish were barely swimming… it seemed as though they were feeling the effects of the dirty water. I put the bag of Purigen from my 5 gallon tank into my 10 gallon tank and bam! It seemed like within only 10 or 15 minutes the fish started getting livelier. The next morning, the 10 gallon tank was crystal clear. In fact it looks as good as the first day I filled it with water if not better. I should have taken a before and after picture of my tank, but didn’t think of it. I did take a picture a couple days after I added the Purigen, and have attached it to this review. Apologies for the poor quality of the picture as I took it with a cheap cell phone. :)In addition, I attached a picture of where I inserted the bag of Purigen. I thought this would be helpful because I had no idea where to install the bag before I started using the product. If it wasn’t for other reviewers and individuals answering questions about where to insert the bag, I would have been totally lost. So, hopefully this will help others to understand where to install it. Other reviewers communicated that you can even leave it floating freely in your tank. This works too-I’ve tried it. You don’t need a special filter set-up or compartment in your filter. In my tanks, I generally tuck it underneath the plastic grid in my filter and it holds it in place so it doesn’t float away. The water coming out of the filter washes through the bag of Purigen.I have several tanks and am going to purchase a couple more bags of this Purigen. I want it in all my larger tanks so that I don’t have to be concerned with bi-weekly chemical checks. My aquariums are all fairly new and they have been going through a lot of changes as of late. I guess the pros call it “cycling.” This Purigen really eases the water chemistry and brings everything into perfect balance and a peaceful calm for my fish.I would definitely recommend this product as it works miracles in my aquariums and relieves stress for fish and fish keepers!

Title: Takes impurities out of water.
Review: Put one or two of these as the last thing on your filter water path. The packa start out as white and over time absorb impurities in the water that the filters can’t. The results is that water impurities your filters miss will get absorbed by this and the water will be very clear. Always be sure your filters are filtering out the vast majority of the debri in the water to avoid clogging these too quickly.When they turn from white to brown, its time to change them out. They are somewhat expensive to replace all the time but many people will just replace them.But if you want to take an extra amount of time, you can recycle the spent packs and save yourself some money. Usually these can be recycled 3 or 4 times and reused till they fail to clean anymore.To recycle packs, get a tupperware like container you will only ise for the recycl9ng pirpose. Be sure to never use it for food again. Put your spent packs into it and fill it to the brim with chlorine bleach. Pit a lid on it if you want to comtain the bleach smell. Leave it for a day or two but every few hours be sure all the packs stay submerged. After a day or two, the stuff that was in the purigen has dissolved into the bleach. The Purigen will be mostly white or yellow. Pour out the bleach and thoroughly rinse everything with tap water. Put the packs back into the container and this time put tap water into it with a heavy dose of Seachem Prime. This removes the chlorine from it over the next day or two. Rinse it all again. Now the nearly white Purigen packs are ready to go back into a filter the next time you do a change. After a few times of recharging, the packs will have less and less turn back to white and you just have to discard an replace them. Hopes this helps you save some money by reusing Purigen.

Review: This is a miracle product. I had cloudy water in a 45g tank with 9 X 5â goldfish. A challenge for any filter and tank. My readings were way out so tried this.I bought 4 bags and place two in the chemical end of my sun sun 3000 hw filter.I have a mechanical tray of course medium and fine foams and two trays of lava rock. I clean the filter every two weeks and purigen is brown. I swap out the two purigen replacing about 10gallons of water each time.I rinse the lava rock in water taken from tank to keep my biological media intact.I place the used purigen in 3/4 water to approx 1/4 bleach over night. Then rinse thoroughly bright white purigen and place in one cap of prime to fresh water in container and leave till needed.Repeat every two weeks leaving me a crystal clear tank and happy fish
